Ribadu Bow Out for Buhari

Barely days to the presidential election, opposition political parties in a bid to reposition themselves and improve their chances of defeating the incumbent, has begun to sift the boys from men and pretenders from contenders.
Against this backdrop, HUHU can disclose that the negotiation between the two leading opposition parties, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) ended, with Nuhu Ribadu, ACN presidential candidate bowing out of the Presidential race.

As result of this development the Action Congress of Nigeria will now adopt Gen. Muhammad Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) as its presidential candidate. Thus; Buhari will run under ACN and CPC joint ticket.

Sources who are privy to the accord, said that Nuhu Ribadu may be rewarded with the position of chief of staff to the president, if Gen. Buhari emerged winner of the 2011 presidential polls. However,Gen Buhari is not comfortable with some of ACN demands.
Nuhu Ribadu, the former EFCC czar, penultimate week, told Nigerian he was not ready to abandon his presidential ambition. But recent realities have caused Mr.Ribadu, who has become synonymous with “flip flop” to reconsider his stance and swallow his words.

Recall that Nuhu Ribadu was unable to win a single ward in Adamawa, his home state, during the last parliamentary elections. This HUHU learnt made ACN top heirachy to list him as “politically inconsequential” and lacking grass root support.

How does Ribadu hope to win a presidential election, when he cannot win his own ward? An ACN faithful Asked

Also Nuhu Ribadu`s choice of a fellow muslim as his running mate has been a source of worry for ACN faithfuls, particularly in the predominantly Christian south-south and middle belt states.
